چکیده

The authors report two cases of true aneurysms of the pulmonary artery (APA) associated with massive pulmonary valvular insufficiency. Both were associated with pulmonary artery hypertension and showed cystic medial necrosis at microscopic examination. One case had no associated defects while the other had a large ventricular septal defect and a small patent ductus arteriosus. Both were treated by aneurysmorrhaphy and a valvular procedure (valve replacement, valvuloplasty). The clinical results were excellent. Catheterization at 2 years showed no further aneurysm formation, no pulmonary hypertension, and mild pulmonary valve insuffrciency in both patients. The literature concerning APA is reviewed and the etiology and the surgical treatment of APA discussed. A unique method of treating pulmonary valve insufficiency is reported. Pulmonary arterial disease with multifocal dissecting haemorrhage in a newborn infant

Intramural haemorrhage in pulmonary arteries is very rare and usually takes the form of a dissecting aneurysm in the pulmonary trunk or a major pulmonary artery. It usually develops on the basis of cystic medial necrosis and pulmonary hypertension. We report a newborn infant with congenital heart disease in whom multifocal haemorrhage occurred in the media of elastic and muscular pulmonary arte...

Pulmonary artery rupture in pregnancy complicating patent ductus arteriosus.

Fatal haemopericardium in a 27 year old pregnant woman was caused by rupture of a dissecting aneurysm of the pulmonary artery. She had an uncorrected patent ductus arteriosus and severe pulmonary hypertension. The wall of the pulmonary artery showed atherosclerosis and cystic medionecrosis.

Mycotic Pulmonary Artery Aneurysm as an Unusual Complication of Thoracic Actinomycosis

Although pulmonary artery aneurysms are a rare vascular anomaly, they are seen in a wide variety of conditions, such as congenital heart disease, infection, trauma, pulmonary hypertension, cystic medial necrosis and generalized vasculitis. To our knowledge, mycotic aneurysms caused by pulmonary actinomycosis have not been reported in the radiologic literature. Herein, a case of pulmonary actino...

Rupture of pulmonary artery aneurysm associated with persistent ductus arteriosus.

Fatal haemopericardium occurred in a 14-year-old boy after rupture of a pulmonary artery aneurysm. Persistent ductus arteriosus with severe pulmonary hypertension was confirmed by cardiac catheterisation when he was 4 weeks old. Attempted closure of the ductus at 4 years had not been possible because of apparent high pulmonary resistance. Exercise tolerance had been good enough to permit compet...

Cardiac neural crest orchestrates remodeling and functional maturation of mouse semilunar valves.

Congenital anomalies of the aortic valve are common and are associated with progressive valvular insufficiency and/or stenosis. In addition, aneurysm, coarctation, and dissection of the ascending aorta and aortic arch are often associated conditions that complicate patient management and increase morbidity and mortality. These associated aortopathies are commonly attributed to turbulent hemodyn...
